Taya renewal design competition entry
We are selected 8 shortlists for Taya renewal design competition (Japanese only) out of 316 entries. The final presentation was held in Magazine-house headquarter in Ginza, Tokyo on October 26th, 2009. Unfortunately, we didn’t win this competition, however some judges saw a potential of developing this wood louver farther. Hopefully, this project will help us to win next competition.

The facade idea is to use wood louvers that is generated from a continuous surface and cut out by CNC machine. There were some questions about the maintenace of using thin wood for exterior facade as well as the detail how each horizontal louvers meet. These are quite big issues for creating such design with CNC machine.
